Affiliate marketing is a billion-dollar industry that is growing rapidly with enormous opportunities. The only question that remains is, what chunk of this multi-billion dollar industry can you exploit?

How much money can you make as an affiliate marketer?

This varies greatly. The real truth is that many people who try affiliate marketing fail or make very little money from it. On the other hand, it’s not uncommon to earn 5 or 6 figures a month from it.

People fail in this business model because they try to figure things out by themselves instead of following a proven step-by-step and because they give up too easily. These are the two main reasons.

Affiliate marketing is a very profitable business model and if done right, you can make a lot of money in this business.

Is Affiliate Marketing Still Profitable?

I don’t want to give you my personal opinion as I’ll be biased. So here are some information and numbers from credible sources:

• According to Investopedia, the affiliate marketing industry is growing steadily.
• Statista also reported that spending on affiliate marketing only in the U.S. is expected to rise to $8.2 billion by 2022.
• As the 2020 prognoses said, affiliate marketing is worth well over $16 billion and it’s still growing – approximately 10% year-over-year according to the Awin report 2021 (link).

Should I learn affiliate marketing for free?

It’s really hard to find free courses that offer good value as most of their content is outdated. Premium courses on the other hand offer great value for money, they are constantly updated, provide on-demand videos and offer support.

Premium courses will save you a lot of time and definitely make you make your money back. I don’t recommend that you try to learn affiliate marketing for free, because this can lead to a lot of frustration and you can lose years without results.

What about Udemy Affiliate Marketing Courses?

Udemy is an open-online course website where anyone is free to create and promote courses. There are dozens of Affiliate Marketing related courses there. But I don’t think they are good and I don’t recommend any of them.

Let me explain why…

Udemy courses usually offer only 2~3 hours of content and the instructor doesn’t show proof that he’s earned good money with his method himself. If you research the course creators, for the majority of them you’ll find NO or VERY LITTLE evidence that they have made money with affiliate marketing themselves.

Also, most of the courses are outdated and you can’t differentiate which are outdated and which aren’t. The course creator needs to only make a little small change to their course to have the “last update” date change accordingly.

What about Skillshare Affiliate Marketing Courses?

The Skillshare courses have the same problems as Udemy courses and I don’t recommend any of them.

How can I learn Affiliate Marketing?

The best way to learn is through taking courses and learning from experienced marketers. You’ll cut years off your learning curve by following an experienced mentor.

Also, you need to put into the work the information you’re learning. The more work you put in, the fastest your results will be. Without action, information is of no use.

Quality information + Actions = Results.

Although I believe that Affiliate Marketing is the best way to start as an online entrepreneur, it doesn’t mean it’s easy and that will take no effort.

Affiliate marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s a reliable business model that will take time, effort, and patience. If you’re willing to learn the business model and take action, then you have a great shot at success.

Why do so many other reviews recommend Wealthy Affiliate?

The Internet is full of overly positive reviews of Wealthy Affiliate. Most of the online course reviews you see online, are from people taking advantage of the traffic to pitch you their “#1 Recommendation” AKA Wealthy Affiliates.

This is because the wealthy affiliates training heavily incentivizes their students to promote WA itself. Most affiliate marketing courses show you how to sign up for the affiliate program and start promoting the course to others.

But inside WA, it’s insane the number of lessons they have just about promoting WA. 60% of their core training explicitly encourages and instructs students to recruit other paying members to the WA community.

The disadvantage is that advertising costs money, so you need to spend some money upfront.
